STUDENT FILM COMPETITION JURY
1. YOSIF FEYGINBERG (CHAIRMAN OF THE JURY) is an award -winning documentary director, writer and producer. His films have been broadcast, and shown in theatres and festivals throughout the world. They received wide critical acclaim, and have won numerous prestigious Canadian and international awards including Gemini, Grand Prix at the Montreal FIFA, Canadian Heritage Award in Yorkton, Czech Crystal Award in Prague, Special Jury Award in Houston, and Silver Screen Award in Los Angeles. Yosif Feyginberg has served as a Jury Member at the Moscow International Film Festival, and as a Jury Chair for various categories of Hot Docs (Canadian International Documentary Festival).

2. Luba Cherny is the president of NTV- Canada (Russian TV Channel 24 hrs on Rogers and Bell) and the publisher of two Russian Community weekly newspapers, founder and organizer of annual Russian Carousel Cultural Festivals. She is vice-president of National Ethnic Press Council of Canada.

Luba Cherny was presented Gold Jubilee medal of Queen Elisabeth (2002).

Her carrier started in Children literature Publishing house in Moscow. After moving to Lithuania, she continued to work in Publishing houses, Radio and Television. She published first independent newspaper in USSR (1989). She is also screenwriter and producer of few documentaries, that been shown at festivals in Russia, Denmark, Canada.

3. ALLA KADYSH is the outspoken radio host. She is best known for her controversial morning talk show on 1430 AM, as well as the colourful column in the “Russian Canadian Info”. Although prominent Russian journalist is a self-proclaimed “political junkie”, Alla Kadysh also has a tender, artistic side: she’s an accomplished singer-songwriter and has a long-standing relationship with an independent film industry. Alla wrote and performed numerous songs for movies of all genres and budgets, most notable being the title song for the blockbuster “Full Time Killer” by the acclaimed Hong Kong director Johnnie To. Alla has also been an accredited journalist at nearly every Toronto International Film Festival. She writes extensively on the subject of movies.
4. VLADIMIR KFNEVSKI. Education: Moscow Music College (now the Institute) named after Ippolitov-Ivanov. Specialized in Trombone, Orchestra directing, Composition. Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory. At the age of 24 starts his music career in the State Boloshoi Theatre. In 2004 joined Russian "Radio Plus" as a Host. In 2008 was invited by NTV-Canada to host the program "Today and Yesterday in Canada" with Vladimir Kanevski". Vladimir works as a freelance journalist and writes the articles for Russian Canadian Info and Gazeta Plus articles, edits the site torontovka.com.
5. ALLA GADASSIK. PhD Candidate in Screen Cultures Department of Radio/TV/Film Northwestern University, Chicago, USA. Dissertation title: “Filmmaking and the Kinaesthetics of Technology”. Committee: Scott Curtis (Chair), Jeffrey Sconce, Domietta Torlasco. Focus areas: Early Soviet cinema; filmmaker writings; animation; theories of media technology; phenomenology of cinema. 2008. M.A. Communication and Culture, York University and Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada Thesis: “Between the Frames: The Figure of the Animator in Film and Digital Media” 2006. B.A. (Hons) Radio and Television Arts, Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada Awards: Canadian Millenium Excellence Award; City TV Award for Media Innovation.
